At Home Workout

A WEEKEND ALONE + NEW WORKOUT

Hi Friends! Happy Hump Day! How have y’all been? It’s hard to believe it is already the first of May, but here we are. The weather has been outstanding and I have been able to get in some pool time over the past weekend, a long walk on the beach with Lucy, and just soaking all that Vitamin D UP UP UP and UP and it feels OH SO GOOD! I am ready for mermaid hair and sun-kissed skin.

A WEEKEND ALONE + NEW WORKOUT

I was alone from Wednesday until Sunday, because Shannon had to head home to Wisconsin for a few days to close up some odds and ends, so it was just me and my girl doing our thing, which really wasn’t much of anything. LOL! It was the perfect weekend to press restart. To embrace the alone time. To be able catch up on all my shows and to just do me for a little bit.

SUNDAY NIGHT NACHOS

It is amazing how quiet the condo was without Shannon in it and by Sunday morning I was ready to have him back. I missed him. During the weekend I was having some serious FOMO and kept toying with going out, but at the same time I was just tired. I knew it was a sign that I just had to BE. To slow down. We have some busy weekends coming up and as hard as it was, I know it was necessary and I am glad I was able to catch up on work, clean, and organize my life a little bit.

With that being said, he’s back and we’re back at it. And it feels good! xo

A WEEKEND ALONE + NEW WORKOUT

And because it has been WAY TOO LONG since I have shared a workout with y’all…It has been THREE months! YIKES! I was inspired to put together another one of my challenging “GET IT DONE” workouts, because with ALL the classes that I have been taking at The Works, I remembered how much fun, effective, and hard full body workouts are with no weights. Lately these kind of workouts have been my cup of tea, so why not spread the sweaty LOVE!

Why do I love these kind of workouts?

  • You can do them anywhere;

  • No gym or equipment required;

  • It is versatile, so you can make it work for you, your schedule and your goals!

How do you make this kind of workout fit your needs?

  • If you have more time in your schedule, do the workout as long as you want!

  • If you want to increase your strength - grab a pair of dumbbells!

  • If you want to increase your endurance - add more repetitions!

  • Have more time and want to take it up a notch? Run 5 - 10 minutes before each round! BOOM!

If you have any questions, do not hesitate to reach out to me.

MONDAY MOTIVATION

Raise your hand if you want more workouts!!!

Do you enjoy “alone time” or do you need and thrive off busy weekends?

BE KIND TO YOURSELF

Raise your hand if December is kicking you ass?!?!?! It has been one hell of a month and I am SO READY for Christmas. I am READY to disconnect. I am READY to be present with family and friends. I am READY to live in the moment and just BREATHE, EAT, DRINK, and, of course, BE MERRY! It is kind of funny and kind of annoying how we go into the holidays with all the right intentions, but somehow life happens and it still exhausts us and leaves us feeling run down. When you are an entrepreneur and you are dating an entrepreneur, this time of year is just flat out NUTS.

BE KIND TO YOURSELF

Shannon and I have been working like crazy and we are both at that point where time away from Charleston is happening at exactly the right time. We both have been plowing through and just getting it done, because that is what we do. But eventually it catches up with you, so it’s time to slow it down...to reconnect...to nourish.

I had no intentions of writing a blog post this week, but when I received an email from a good friend yesterday and could sense her stress and emotions, I had the inspiration to write about how we need to be kind to ourselves during this time of year. This is a reminder to myself and to all of you, that YES it is totally normal to be all out of sorts during this time of year, but let’s try to reel it in and practice some self-care and remember to SLOW DOWN. So how do we do it? How do I do it?

DISCONNECT - Thankfully I have been practicing this more and more and will continue practicing it through the New Year! Disconnecting to me is like taking days off from working out. I don’t necessarily like to do it, but it’s a must for my physical and mental well-being. After taking a few days off, I come back stronger, more focused, and inspired to dive into my projects with clarity.

BE KIND TO YOURSELF

But the most important reason for disconnecting not only during this time of year, but on a regular basis is to BE PRESENT! It’s hard to enjoy life if you are constantly scrolling. Make it a goal between now and Christmas to put the phone away and not check your accounts for two days. GASP...I dare you!

SWEAT IT OUT - Obviously you knew that this would be in the list! Sweating makes me happy and it makes me feel good, so if this helps you get through the ups and downs of the holiday season, just do it. I’m looking to tackle some long runs while away. No weights, gyms, or studios. I just want to soak up the sunshine and sweat in the beautiful outdoors.

BE KIND TO YOURSELF

If you are going to be dealing with bitter cold temperatures, why not tackle this oldie, but goodie “At-Home Workout”? No equipment required and it gets the job done, so you can do on your merry way and go to that holiday party feeling like the badass that you are...BOOM!

NOURISH YOUR BELLY and YOUR SOUL - Enjoy yourself...Enjoy the parties...Enjoy the food...You don’t have to do it all. I am going to repeat that...YOU DON’T HAVE TO DO IT ALL!  Do what serves you and what is going to bring you happiness at the end of the day. When you feel like you are being pulled from all ends this time of year, take some time to be selfish and take care of YOU!

For me, this could be as simple as a mani/pedi...Or making a loaded plate of nachos with all the goods...Taking Lucy to the beach and leaving my phone in the car...Catching up on all my reality shows and just letting the couch soak me up...Planning a date night with Shannon at one of our favorite restaurants (I’m going to do this as soon as this post goes live).

Whatever makes YOU happy, just do it! You deserve to love yourself as much as you love others!

LEAN ON THE ONES YOU LOVE - This is a MUST in my opinion...That’s what loved ones and friends are for. They are in your life for a reason. They get you. They get your weirdness. They support you through the pretty and not so pretty times. They are your TRIBE!

Don’t hold all that shit in. In the past, I used to hold it all in, but now I am an open book. This has come from working on myself, which I am still doing by the way, because shit, I have my own issues, but I couldn’t do it without my Life Coach, my friends, and, of course, Shannon.

I am grateful for my tribe. It keeps growing and they keep inspiring me and helping me and just being there for me whenever I need them. People have come into my life for a reason and each one of my friends near and far are there to help me in certain aspects of my life. I find this unbelievably cool and comforting.

And because I cannot help myself, I have to brag about Shannon, because he is my rock. He sees it ALL. He has seen me at my worst and my best moments. He stands by me. He supports me. He makes me feel safe. He keeps it REAL. We are by no means a “perfect couple” and that is okay. I am just happy that I can lean on him physically and emotionally and know that he has got my back and I will always have his. And I promise in 2019, to share more about US, and who this Wisconsin man is.

BE KIND TO YOURSELF

Merry Christmas you AMAZING humans! So grateful for YOU and this space where I can write, inspire, and just BE! xoxo

Walgreens #DoDEOBetter

*Disclosure: Post sponsored by Mirum Shopper but all opinions are my own.*

I never hide the fact that I sweat a lot and that I wear men's deodorant! I train hard and sweaty workouts are the norm all year round. During the Summer months, I try to take most of my workouts outside, because that Vitamin D, the salty air, and the ocean breeze feels fabulous on my skin. This is what Summer is about...It is about BEING OUTSIDE! Running, walking, and quick at home workouts are happening a lot, because, during these busy days, it is important that I disconnect for a little bit and enjoy what this island has to offer during these quick months. And of course,  Little Lucy is always by my side...Wait who am I kidding, she is ALWAYS by my side!

Walgreens Do DEO Better

Most days during my workouts this time of year, the sweat is pouring off my nose and dripping down my shins. So let us just say that I need the strong stuff! I am excited to have teamed up with Walgreens today to spread the word about their deodorants and the different kinds that you can find online or in stores! Because as you know, everyone is different and everyone needs the right deodorant to keep them smelling fresh and staying dry. There are four different categories of deodorants that you can find at your local Walgreens and on Walgreens.com/DoDeoBetter:

4 Categories:
                •       Dry Sprays – Goes on instantly dry
                •       Care – Cares for your skin
                •       Motion Activated – Protects for 48 hours with Motionsense® technology
                •       Clinical Protection – Defends with clinical strength wetness protection

For me personally, I need "Motion Activated" and lots of protection, so 48 hours sounds good to me! I need a deodorant that is going to help me stay fresh through training clients, my workouts, and then while I am at home working away on the computer. My days start at 6:00 AM and end anywhere between 6:00 and 7:00 PM, so that is one heck of a day. And who has time to worry about whether or not their deodorant is going to keep them so fresh and so clean...LOL! Not me!

Since I live on an island 30 miles out at sea, I do my Walgreens shopping online, but if you are on the mainland, make sure you stop in a store closest to you and save on these deals and find a deodorant that works best for YOU this summer! Here are some offers to check out:

Clip 2 Card Offer: Save $1 on Dove, Dove Men+Care, Degree® Women, Degree® Men and Axe Deodorants. Coupon Expires 8/28/16. See full terms and details at Walgreens.com/Balance.

See full terms and details at Walgreens.com/Balance.

And because I have talked so much about being outside and moving your body this Summer, here is a quick workout that I found, that is perfect for getting your heart rate up, building your strength, and testing out that new deodorant.

#SummerStrong Outdoor Workout

HELLO Summer! I hope that y'all had a beautiful weekend that was filled with lots of sunshine laughter, good food, and outdoor adventures! The sun was shining brightly here on Nantucket and we made sure to soak it ALL UP. Life has been busy, non-stop, run around crazy, but it is beautiful and fun and I am just doing what I can when I can, while still being able to enjoy life...Yes it is definitely easier said than done, but I love what I do and what is happening on this island professionally, so I am just going to roll with it. Still working on balance and the personal side, but that will happen...

#SummerStrong

Smoothie game is still going STRONG and I am plowing through these Bob's Red Mill Nutritional Boosters. I honestly LOVE them and I like the way they make my body feel...the taste...no side effects...and that I can load them up with whatever add-ins I am craving.

Strawberry Kale Chocolate Protein Smoothie with Tamari Pumpkin Seeds

Mango Chai Protein Smoothie with Nuttzo Original Peanut Crunchy

It has been way too long since I have shared a workout, but I figured that this would be an appropriate time since we are celebrating the #SummerStrong and #FuelYourAwesomeness Challenge (which is July 18 - July 23). Moving and nourishing your body go in hand in hand...You need to do BOTH to feel and look your best inside and out.

I created this workout for the gym, but I made some changes so that you can do this outside at home and soak up that Summer air. I am a Pisces...I LOVE the water...the sunshine...and just being outside and of course being active outside. And these pieces of equipment are inexpensive...I believe in having a stability ball, a set of dumbbells, and a jump rope at home. You can do LOTS of workouts with these tools. So pick some up and store them in your basement or garage and you can use them year round.

And onto the workout...Here are a few tips:

  • Warm up with 15-20 minutes of cardio if you want to get in a full hour;
  • Do 3 rounds of each circuit and then move onto the next circuit;
  • Rest 45-60 second between each round;
  • Remember to hydrate, breathe, and focus on form...not speed!
#SummerStrong

Make sure to head on over to my Instagram feed and follow along and enter the GIVEAWAY and of course make sure to print out this workout and give it a try on one of these beautiful Summer days...Oh and if you are just itching to get your hands onto Bob Red Mill's Nutritional Boosters, you can print out a coupon HERE

Have a fabulous start to the new week friends!

Has your "smoothie game" been strong this Summer?

Are you taking your workouts outside to soak up that Vitamin D?

"When I Am In NJ" Workout

When I head home to New Jersey, there are a few things that will always happen...

  • Mom makes her infamous Meatballs and Spaghetti;
  • I stock up at Costco;
  • I get my hair done at Laboratory Studios...I know a little extreme, but I am not ready to leave her;
  • I visit the New Vernon deli for my favorite drip coffee and Italian Sub;
  • And I always come up with new workouts, because I like to workout when I travel!
Mom's Italian Meatballs

Now that I look at this list, I am laughing as to how everything revolves around FOOD! What can I say...I am a foodie...I love talking about food...and more importantly I love to eat! And YES one of the many reasons I do workout is so that I can eat all of this deliciousness! All those carbs definitely me on my hilly runs through NJ and through the workouts that I create in Mom's basement. I enjoy working out when I am home. I do slow down (a little); sleep in; take Lucy on her long walks; but starting my day with a early morning workout ALWAYS makes me feel my best. I enjoy working out when I travel and I enjoy coming up with new workouts that adapt to whatever situation I am in. Win for me and win for you!

ACKTIVE LIFE Workout

In the basement is a treadmill, set of 10 pound dumbbells, and a TV! I am good to go! In the warmer months, I will do my running on our street, but during the winter months, it is flipping cold out there...so the treadmill and episodes of Dexter will have to do. Dexter is GOOD and definitely made that hour go by a lot faster...High-Fives!

ACKTIVE LIFE Workout

Look over this workout and please let me know if you have any questions or concerns. I am always here to help and inspire you to be the BEST version of YOU! Enjoy!

Do you workout when you go home to visit your family?
