The Week After A Holiday

What day is it?

What month is it?

How are we already in July?

Can someone please slow down time?!?!?

July 4th came and went just like that and we are about to jet off this weekend, to go see Shannon’s family in Wisconsin. These short weeks totally screw with me and I feel like even on Tuesday, people were still walking around a little fuzzy from the holiday weekend! I actually felt pretty good and didn’t overdo it, so I was ready to go. I soaked up a lot of sun. I did a lot of swimming. I ate a lot of good food. I read a lot and took some time away from social media. I am finding that taking two days off from social is good for my soul. It is so easy to get stuck scrolling and scrolling. Putting the phone away, stepping away from the computer, and just soaking up summer is a lot more fun and healthier! It is summer and we should be outside more. We should be moving our bodies more. We should be socializing more. It is hard to step away from our devices, but once we do, it feels GOOD.

Before I step away again for the weekend, I just wanted to pop in and share some STUFF. It is nothing too serious, or heavy, it is just a little bit of this and that. Join me for some coffee talk and then we can jump into another crazy summer weekend!

Currently Reading

“The Intermission” by Elyssa Friedland - I am about halfway through this book and I am enjoying it. It’s an easy, summer, beach read. When it comes to reading, I like books that take me away from the “real world”. I am not a fan of heavy fictional reads, as they end up actually messing with my sleep and since I already have annoying issues with sleep, I don’t need that. So if you follow me, my books are all around the same genre, with a good mystery or thriller randomly thrown into the mix.

I also picked up three NEW books from the library on Wednesday and I cannot wait to read ALL of them. I saw each one of these recommended by some of my friends and I was pretty excited to get that email from the library letting me know that they came in. YES, I am that book nerd who gets excited about the “Library Notice” email.

Currently Eating

Breakfast, lunch, or dinner, I could eat loaded scrambles every day! They are so EASY, simple, versatile, healthy, scrumptious (yes I just used that word), and it is a great way to not wast any food. Throw whatever you have into the scramble and BOOM you have got a delicious meal ready in minutes. For me as of lately, my favorite combo is adding mushrooms, onions, and tomatoes. And with crispy sourdough toast and a smother of avocado and jelly (yes this combo is DELISH) I am happy happy happy!

I am working on getting more protein into my eats and actually am craving protein like crazy these days. Eggs are a great way to get those nutrients. I have also been wanting steak, red meat, and salmon, so it is what I feed my body, because I listen to my body. And as always, I just like to keep it simple. No elaborate ingredients, just REAL GOOD FOOD!

Currently Wearing

I have been living in swimsuits this summer and why not, when you have found a brand that you LOVE! Finding suits are HARD and they can be expensive and just a battle that a lot of us dread every time summer rolls around. For me, as of lately, it is trying to keep the boobs in a place. I like support there and don’t want to constantly be fussing, adjusting, tightening, and worried they are going to fall out. As far as showing a little booty, I am ALL about that. I work hard for that butt and showing a little cheek every now and then makes me feel good.

ALL of my suits this summer are from Citrine Swim! They have a store right in town and it was literally a match made in heaven. It was even better when I found out that they were having a huge sale that day too. I left with two bikinis that I can mix and match and a one-piece. WHAT?!?! This one-piece is the BEST and I always get compliments on it when I wear it. Unfortunately, it is no longer available, but I love the cut, the fit, and the detail. It feels like a bodysuit, so I can even wear it with jean shorts, some accessories, and cute sandals and be good to go. All about versatility! Each one of these suits offers the right amount of support, comfort, style, femininity, and I can mix and match. If you live in Mount Pleasant, make sure to check them OUT or shop them ONLINE!

Currently Lifting Heavy Things

I am also currently SORE as heck, but in a good way! Nothing like walking around the condo doing the duck waddle and feeling those muscles burning, growing, and doing their thing! I train hard and I always have and being back in the gym and doing heavier workouts is feeling really GOOD! I feel stronger, I look stronger, and the health benefits of lifting weights, well that is a long list that is loaded with more GOOD stuff and stuff that we as women should not ignore, so don’t be scared of lifting weights. It is good for your overall health, your metabolism, and your booty!

Here are a couple workouts that I have done over the past couple of weeks! Look them over, let me know if you have any questions, and I will be sure to help you out. Things to remember with these workouts are:

  • Rest 45 seconds to 1 minute between each circuit;

  • Listen to your body and what works and feels good to you;

SLOW and STEADY...Really focus on form and take your time doing these moves, so you can get the most out of each exercise. I have been doing this personally and I can definitely see the changes!

Happy Friday and I hope that y’all have a beautiful weekend!

xoxo
