PEANUT BUTTER BANANA PROTEIN NICE CREAM

Including protein powders into your lifestyle is an easy way to get those nutrients that your body needs. For me personally, I need LOTS of protein, especially with all the training that I do. I train hard. I sweat a ton. And I push my body...whether it is running, spinning, or yoga, I love to move and to sweat, but I NEED to replenish my body with all the goods.

PEANUT BUTTER BANANA PROTEIN NICE CREAM

INGREDIENTS:

  • 3 T Biochem Plant Protein Mood Vanilla Flavor (Includes ingredients known to diminish tension, stress and tiredness, helping to support a positive mood)

  • 4x cups of frozen banana slices

  • ¼ cup of nut butter of choice

  • ½ cup of unsweetened almond milk

  • Toppings: Chocolate Chips + More Nut Butter

PEANUT BUTTER BANANA PROTEIN NICE CREAM

Place Biochem Plant Protein Mood Vanilla Flavor frozen banana slices, peanut butter, and unsweetened almond milk into a blender.

  1. Blend on high until a smooth consistency has formed. If the consistency is too thick, you can always adds some more almond milk.

  2. Add in mini chocolate chips and pulse to combine.

  3. Serve with more chocolate chips and a drizzle of peanut butter. You can eat the nice cream immediately, which will have the consistency of soft-serve or you can put it into the freezer for more of an ice cream texture. I recommend eating it immediately!

GREEN MONSTER SMOOTHIE

Tis’ the season for LOTS of parties, food, booze, and everything in excess!!! It is a crazy time of year that can leave us feeling exhausted, stressed, and at our wits ends. And we constantly are seeing and reading about how to stay sane…how to not overindulge…how to breathe…how to still stay fit. It is honestly annoying and frustrating. I know that it can be hard to stay on track during this time of year, but it really doesn’t have to be. Keep it SIMPLE and keep doing YOU!!!

For example, if you find that you are eating out more and drinking more this time of year, feeling sluggish and even bloated, take some time to check-in with yourself. Get back on track. Train a little harder. Eat more greens. Drink more water. I am not a fan of the attitude of well I’ve already fallen off the wagon, I might as well just keep going and then I’ll change everything come the first of year…NO! I hate that mentality. It’s not healthy. It screws with your emotional being and it also screws up your metabolism and workouts. Who the hell wants to start from scratch again come January 2, 2019?

I am here for you. I am here to motivate you and inspire you to stay on track. To enjoy life and still have fun, but also still stay healthy and fit. Trust me, I fall off the wagon during this time of year and it’s okay. I just wake up the next day and do my thing. A few of my favorite ways to stay sane and HAPPY and motivated during the holidays are:

  1. Group Workouts – Since I work from home, I sometimes have days where I crave interaction. The community at Method Ride during the holidays has been AWESOME. They offered 75 minute rides during Thanksgiving. It was exactly what I wanted and needed. It was hard as hell, but the energy is contagious and it’s a great way to bounce back after a day or night of indulgence. Make sure to check them out and sign up HERE! And make sure to sign up for fun, challenging group classes that will help you stay accountable and motivated during this time of year. Check out their holiday SALES HERE!!!

  2. HYDRATE – There are a lot of foods during this time of year that my body is personally not used too. The salt, sugar, dairy, those rich buttery dishes of heaven. I’ll wake up the next day with swollen fingers and my tummy will have some aches, but it’s all good, because I enjoyed it and enjoyed every single bite. The best thing to do is just wake up and DRINK LOTS AND LOTS OF WATER to flush it out!

  3. Get Outside – Vitamin D is crucial this time of year! Bundle up and get your butt out the door to soak up that sunshine. I am a total pansy when it comes to the cold, so it takes a lot of conversations with myself to go for an outdoor run. But when I start moving and I’m finished, I never regret it. Going on a run, walk, or bike ride is a great way to just clear your head, to breathe, and to check-in with yourself. Try leaving your phone at home too and really embrace the peace and quiet. Guaranteed you will come back feeling better.

  4. NOURISH YOUR BODY – After a night out during the holidays, the best thing that works for me, is I wake up, drink all the coffee, get in a sweaty workout, and then make a GREEN MONSTER SMOOTHIE and BOOM…I’m back.

I’ve teamed up with Nature’s Greens this holiday season to give you two green recipes to help you nourish your body…to encourage you to try something new…to let you know that it is OKAY to indulge during this time of year, but it’s also important to take care of your body this time of year.

Nature's Greens

Here’s what you need to know about Nature’s Greens, before you look at my GREEN MONSTER SMOOTHIE and make a funny face. Nature’s Greens provides a line of products that are convenient and easy-to-prepare. They are triple washed and ready to cook and serve. They are also high in vitamins and full of nutrition, which provide endless ideas of great meal solutions. Sauté, add to pastas, create side dishes and my favorite is to add to smoothies.

Smoothies are always a favorite of mine, because they’re easy to throw together, they’re versatile, and you can jam pack that blender with all the goods so you are getting the necessary amount of protein, carbs, and healthy fats. So here’s the deal…Before you make a silly face when you are looking at the ingredients I added, why not try something NEW and see how you feel.

Nature's Greens

INGREDIENTS:

  • Handful of Nature’s Greens Kale Greens

  • 1 scoop of protein powder of choice

  • 1 diced pear (1/2 for the blender + ½ to add on top). You can also choose to use whatever fruit you have on hand. My favorite add in are pears and apples, for that extra fiber.

  • Splash of almond milk

  • Heading spoonful of nut butter of choice

  • Dash of cinnamon

DIRECTION:

  1. Add all ingredients to the blender, except for the ½ pear or fruit of choice;

  2. Blend away until smooth;

  3. Add the remainder of fruit on top or even some nut butter;

  4. ENJOY!

How do YOU stay on track during this time of year?

WHAT 5 STAPLES ARE ALWAYS IN MY FRIDGE

Oh HEY friends...do you remember me?!?! It's been a month since I have posted a blog post...Life happens and it's been happening!

Instead of freaking out or putting pressure on myself to force something to happen, I am just doing what I can when I can. At this point in my business, it is important that I take care of my clients first and then when I have the time to write and share, I will make it happen, but it will happen naturally. So now I am back and ready to write, share, and just go with the flow. I surprisingly have a ton of ideas that I want to write about, but nowadays, it comes down to time, enjoying life, and making sure I'm present in real time and real relationships. Can I get an AMEN!!! But when I do have time to write, you bet your ass I will be sharing, creating, and inspiring, so let's do it, while I have your attention. And let's talk FOOD, my favorite topic...WOOT WOOT!

I LOVE to go food shopping! I know that a lot of people do not like this chore, but there is something exciting about cleaning out your fridge and then going to the store with a clean slate and stocking it all up again with delicious and healthy eats. Yes, this is how I view food shopping. Is it a little weird that I would rather go food shopping than to a department store? Actually, don’t answer that…

Random Side Note: I am REALLY good at shopping at Lululemon in store and Nordstrom’s online, but when it comes to casually spending an afternoon going store to store, I am the worst. Back to food shopping…I LOVE food. I LOVE to eat. I LOVE to nourish my body. Food fuels my lifestyle and therefore having a fridge that is stocked with the necessary nutritious ingredients is very important to me. I have never proclaimed to be an amazing cook. My meals are easy, require simple ingredients, and are always ready in less than 30 minutes. So my fridge is filled with real, simple, healthy ingredients. These are staples that are ALWAYS in my fridge, no matter how empty the fridge gets, these items are there.

1.NuttZo – If you have been following me for a while, you know my obsession with this nut butter. I may be totally biased since I work for them, but once you go NuttZo, you NEVER go back. Spoonfuls of NuttZo happen every day, as it is my favorite healthy fat. I always have one jar in my fridge, but sometimes there is another one lurking because that one is just for dipping. As of lately, I cannot get enough of the organic crunchy Peanut Pro NuttZo...It’s my JAM! I can honestly say that I go through a jar a week. No shame in my serving sizes...The bigger the better. And we are starting to pop up into a lot more stores nationwide, so make sure that you are following us on Instagram, to find out where you can get all the goods...That's my shameless plug...Thanks for listening...LOL!

2. Hot Sauce – I put hot sauce on almost every savory meal that I make! I love spicy foods and I am currently crushing on Saucy Lips Foods. Their spicy flavors are DELISH! The Jalapeno & Apple is my favorite and I drizzle it on everything and every night. Saucy Lips Foods sauces are gluten-free, dairy free, soy free, sugar-free, and nut free.

Saucy Lips

3. Eggs – I currently buy the Kirkland Signature Organic Eggs, because they come in a pack of 24 and Shannon and me eat a lot of them. Eggs are versatile, healthy, ready in minutes, inexpensive, and can be eaten for breakfast, lunch, or dinner! Shannon makes the BEST pancakes, so when I get that craving, there better be a few eggs in the fridge for him to whip up those bad boys!

4. Zucchini – Definitely kind of random food that is always in my fridge, but for the past year, there is always a packet of zucchini in there. I now always add 1 small zucchini to my smoothies (recipe below) to make it extra creamy and thick. I typically dice up the zucchini and throw it into the freezer with whatever fruit I am using that day and let it sit for a few hours.

Organic Bone Broth Peanut Butter Protein Smoothie (sheesh that's a mouthful)

INGREDIENTS:

  • 1 packet Organic Bone Broth Protein Peanut Butter
  • 1 small zucchini
  • 1 serving of fruit of choice (I used raspberries for this one)
  • 1 heaping spoonful of nut butter of choice
  • Dash of Simply Organic Foods Cinnamon
Organic Bone Broth Peanut Butter Protein Smoothie

DIRECTIONS:

  1. Dice up zucchini + half of the fruit + throw all ingredients into your blender;
  2. Top with the remaining fruit and maybe some more NuttZo;
  3. ENJOY!

4. Apples – I eat typically 3 – 4 apples a week. I will add them to smoothies; on top of my yogurt bowls; or eat them with a spoonful of NuttZo, almonds, or a Rise Bar. Apples are jam-packed with nutrients, easy to travel with, relatively inexpensive, and I like the crispness of a good old apple. I LOVE Honey Crisp apples…They definitely are not the cheapest, but I will splurge on a few here and there.

And this is what my fridge looks like.

IMG_5966.JPG

I try to keep it clean, but it is no way spotless or perfectly organized, because who the heck has time for that? Nothing too exciting or out of the ordinary, but it holds everything I need. I could tell you about the freezer, but I feel like that is its own post, because I seriously freeze EVERYTHING. Did you know that you can freeze Costco Apple Pie and their COOKIES? YES and PLEASE!

Prosciutto Frittata with Sweet Potato Crush

Prosciutto Frittata with Sweet Potato Crust

Ingredients

  • 1 large Sweet potato
  • 3oz Prosciutto sliced
  • 1 dozen Eggs
  • 1 Red Bell Pepper
  • 1/2 Red Onion
  • 3 stalks Green onion
  • 1.5 tsp Salt
  • 1/2 tsp Black Pepper
  • 1 tsp Onion Powder
  • 1 tbsp Avocado or Olive Oil

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375. Grease a 9X10 deep baking pan with avocado or olive oil.
  2. Thinly slice your sweet potato using a mandolin or very sharp knife. Slices should be 1/4-1/8" thick. Layer the slices overlapping on the bottom of the pan evenly to create the bottom crust. Once layered, put in oven for 25 minutes or until potatoes are 80% cooked through.
  3. Slice up your bell pepper into thin strips along with your red onion. Heat a skillet to medium heat, add 1 tbsp olive or avocado oil and saute onion and pepper for about 5-6 minutes making sure to soften but not fully cook through.
  4. While you wait for your pepper and onion to cool down, crack one dozen eggs into a large bowl and whisk until blended together. Tear up prosciutto into bite sized pieces and add to egg mixture along with thinly sliced green onion. Then add your pepper and red onion mixture to egg bowl and stir until fully combined.
  5. Take potato crust pan out of oven and pour egg mixture right on top making sure you distribute the vegetable mixture evenly. Egg mixture will go under the crust and in between layers and this is ok!
  6. Bake Frittatta for 25-30 minutes or until middle is firm. Let cool and slice into 6-8 pieces.
