5 Things I Do Every Saturday Morning
If you know me, you know that I LOVE MY MORNINGS! I talk about my morning routine a lot. Sorry, but I’m not sorry! My mornings are important to me and I look forward to waking up early and doing ALL THE THINGS! It is my most productive time of day. It is quiet, no one else is awake in my work world, it is just me and Lucy (snoring away), and I just get stuff DONE!
I never was a morning person, but working in the social media world kind of changed all of that as did working from home. I really have to monopolize my time, so that I can disconnect when necessary and be present in other aspects of my life, so mornings need to be productive, for me to be successful in other areas of my life.
Saturday morning ends up looking like a typical workday for me, but once I finish up the loose ends with work in the afternoon, I turn it off and head out to enjoy life, because in Charleston, that is what we do on Saturday’s and it is why I love living here. There is ALWAYS so much going on!
If you are interested, this is what a typical Saturday morning looks like for me in beautiful Charleston!
Hydrate + Probiotic
When I roll out of bed at the crack of dawn, I put on my slippers and walk into the kitchen to turn the coffee machine on. While the coffee is brewing, I brush my teeth, and then immediately take my probiotic and drink lots of water. I could probably do this part of my routine blindfolded.
Taking a probiotic for a little bit over a year now, has been a game-changer for my gut health. It has helped my regularity, skin, nails, and hair. So much YES! I have noticed that as I have gotten older, especially with turning 41 last March, that my body is changing, so taking a probiotic and making sure I am drinking lots of water have helped in so many ways. Small daily changes can make a HUGE impact on our overall well-being, you just have to listen, learn, and educate yourself.
COFFEE COFFEE COFFEE
I love my coffee and I always have two cups a day, even on the weekends! I love the smell, the routine of making it, and being able to enjoy it while doing my work in the peace and quiet, with a candle lit. And my coffee is pretty basic. Nothing fancy over here...I just add unsweetened almond milk and a dash of DAK’s Spices Chocolate Crave. Every once in a while I will get some seasonal creamers to take it up a notch...But I’m basic and drip coffee works for me! LOL!
Walk with Lucy
Watching the sunrise on our walks, has become my favorite way to start my day, over these past couple of weeks! It is a NEW piece I have added to my workouts and self-care. I never thought that I would find so much joy, peace, happiness, and inspiration in those 60 minutes with Lucy. The cold air, the stillness, the time away from all electronics, and seeing the same familiar faces each day as we move through the neighborhoods has become a meditation practice for me.
And I never thought I would enjoy WALKING so much. This movement definitely helps my body recover both physically and mentally and I’m not mad about it. Happy Katie and Happy Lucy is a really good combo!
After I complete my meditation and Lucy has gotten her movement in, it is time to take things up a notch! It is time to SWEAT, MOVE, and STRENGTHEN this body and my favorite way to do that on a Saturday morning is with my tribe at The Works. 60 minutes of Vinyasa, Cardio, Plyometrics, and Sculpt. It is everything you could want in a class. It is hard as hell, but I have never regretted stepping into that room. There have definitely been times when I have wanted to give up, throw up, but I always leave a sweaty hot mess SMILING, and I always come back.
Finish Up Work and then DISCONNECT
After steaming up the car, cleaning up myself (because I am usually SOAKED in sweat), I put on my fancy bathrobe, drink more water, and finish up some odds and ends with work and the house.
THEN…
I finally figure out what our plans are…
I put “real” clothes on, some makeup...WOOT WOOT!
And we head out to meet up with our friends to drink good drinks, eat good food, and ENJOY LIFE!
It is my routine and I wouldn’t have it any other way!
xoxo
