COFFEE TALK
HELLO DECEMBER!!!
And here we are…The holidays are upon us…The NEW YEAR is so close…and just ALL THE THINGS! This has been one hell of a year and I do not know about you, but I am ready for 2020. I am ready for a clean slate. I am ready to move forward and follow through on some dreams that have been patiently waiting to truly bloom. Never before has the time been right to take that chance and make a change. It is time to believe, breathe, and take that step. And if I fail, then I fail, but failure has never been an option, it is more about learning and growing, taking risks, and surrounding yourself with a badass tribe.
This year has tested me professionally, emotionally, physically, and even nutritionally. Lots of highs and lows and trying to feel all the feels and just figure it all out. Getting older is not easy and 40 has been a hard AF year. But things happen for a reason and the month of December has been a time for me to slow down, after a year of going full speed for months and months. The slowing down at first was hard, but in the end, it has made me happier…it has allowed me to have time for other things…it has forced me to think about what is next. I have needed this time and I am enjoying it. That is that my friends, so grab some coffee and let’s talk!
Do you want more personal posts about ME? Or do you want to just stick to food, fitness?
WHAT I’M EATING…Nothing new to report here! My appetite has been a little wonky this holiday season, so I am just trying to listen to it and change things up a bit. But let’s look at some delicious food photos from the past week…
Yogurt Bowls with Diced Apples and Michele’s Granola…
Nacho Night on a Wednesday Night...
Whole Wheat Turkey Sandwich from Publix…
Random Thought...On my IG stories, I always post what I make Shannon for dinner. It is nothing fancy, as he really doesn’t do fancy meals. He is pretty particular about what he wants, but I am trying to help him eat more complete, satisfying, and nourishing meals.
Do you want to see more posts about what I make for the DUDE?
WHAT I’M READING…I am FINALLY back into my reading routine and the reason why is that I follow an influencer on Instagram who is a book lover like myself, except she does tons of IG stories on ALL the books she reads. One day I literally wrote down 10 books she recommended, so I am good for the next few weeks. WHEW...Make sure to check out Marybeth Lawrence if you are looking for book ideas. I have found this so helpful! It’s the little things that make me happy!
Currently, I am reading Since We Fell, by Dennis Lehane. Well, I actually just finished it last night. It was a good quick read that I enjoyed reading before going to bed every night. I would give it a 6 out of 7, because the ending was kind of disappointing, but otherwise, it is worth picking up.

WHAT I’M DOING FOR WORKOUTS...I am just doing what my body has been craving...YES, I just used the word CRAVING to describe my workouts. Working out is my therapy and when I sweat, move, and improve my strength, balance, core, and endurance, I am a better person emotionally, mentally, and physically.
Some weeks when I feel like my energy is a little BLECH, I lean on my tribe to motivate and move me. You will find me at MethodRide and The Works for those kick-ass workouts that do ALL THE THINGS. Why do I spend so much time at both of these places?
I LOVE the teachers!
The community...These people are a whole other group of friends that I have grown to love in Charleston. I love to workout with them and get that extra motivation when I am slacking.
The studios are clean, easy to get to, and worth the investment.
For the weeks or days when I want to focus on my strength, I head to Pivotal Fitness, to do my StepMill and treadmill workouts, which also entail full-body strength workouts. These workouts typically entail kettlebells, dumbbells, and machines. I leave the burpees, squat jumps, and mountain climbers to The Works. No reason to do that shit on my own!
Need some motivation to get your body moving? Try this oldie, but goodie workout, that is perfect to take with you during this crazy month of traveling, eating, partying, and again...ALL THE THINGS! Print it out and take it with you. This one will definitely do the job and leaving you sweaty, stronger, and happier!
I used to dread the STEPMILL, but this machine and I have made peace with each other. It is great for getting your heart rate up, improving your endurance, balance, core, and building strength as well. Add in some circuits and B O O M this is one freaking badass workout.
This workout is versatile, so do what WORKS for YOU!
Look it over and feel free to ask me ANY questions. I’m always here to help and give some tips too.
Do you want me to start bringing back some of my workouts?
I hope that everyone has a wonderful Christmas and New Year and plan on seeing a lot more of ALL THE THINGS in 2020. Let’s do this y’all! MERRY MERRY!
