ENCINITAS BUSINESS TRIP
It has been a week since we have come back from my business trip to beautiful Encinitas, CA and what a trip it was! It was filled with ALL THE GOOD THINGS! I met some pretty amazing women. I stuffed myself silly with all the GOOD FOOD. I soaked up that California sunshine. And I achieved what I wanted for work. It was a success and I am grateful to work with a brand that I truly believe in and people who inspire me. Our team is truly a group of some badass BOSS BABES!
But this past week of getting back into my routine was ROUGH! I think it was a combination of a lot of things (my period was early, constipation, 3-hour time change, two full days of travel, and my body fighting some sort of bug), but I was totally “off’ and had a hard time getting back into my groove. I powered through with my workouts, work, hydrating, and eating all the goods to nourish my body, but it just was not coming together...Frustrating AF! Traveling can wreak some serious havoc on my body, but sometimes you just have to roll with it...feel all feels...and just keep trucking!
The WORK - The reason for this trip out west was that my client was hosting an “Influencer Party” to thank all of the women who we have worked with and who have helped promote the RESTAURANT and HYDRATE. We were also working our asses off to get 10K on Instagram and we did it that night of the party!!! WOOT WOOT!!! Kris, the owner, and her partner are such generous, hard-working, and passionate about everything that they do, and I am truly GRATEFUL to be a part of this brand and this community. I highly recommend you read the story behind GOODONYA. I promise to share more information on HYDRATE and why we use and why you should use it too. But for right now, I am just going to focus on this trip, because it just all came together and we came together as a team and made it happen.
The FOOD - It was damn GOOD and a nice change from what we are normally used too. I ate a lot at GOODONYA Organic, because obviously that is my client and where I was doing a lot of work, but their food is the BEST.
They are 99% organic, because one tortilla is not organic. It is allergen friendly...non-gmo...the seafood is wild, fair-trade, and sustainable...they have biodynamic wine (GAME CHANGER! I learned so much about this from Kris and it is truly fascinating and no hangovers!)...gluten-free beer. I could go on and on, but just check them out, so if you ever visit you can stop in try a Golden Milk Latte and have breakfast, lunch, or dinner!
The PEOPLE - It was amazing to meet so many people who I have been talking to through email and social media and to FINALLY to meet them in person and to make that human and physical connection. Some of them I have been collaborating with for almost five years. All of them were women and ALL of them were inspiring, strong, passionate, and each had their own incredible story.
As much as social media can literally drive me bonkers and exhaust the hell out of me, it is these kinds of moments, that make me love what I do day in and day out. And the best part is that when I met most of them, it was like I had known them forever. For example, on Friday morning, Kate came to our hotel room and then she and I went off for a long run along the coast and then had coffee. It was an instant connection and I cannot wait to run with her again when we go back. I have ONLY talked to her on Instagram. But that is the beauty of this kind of work and life in general and I am grateful for my client who made all of this happen!
The BEAUTY - Encinitas is a beautiful beach town that reminds me a lot of Mount Pleasant/Sullivan’s Island minus all the golf carts. It is a small community with lots of coffee shops, boutique breweries, delicious restaurants, gorgeous beach bungalows, and the VIEWS are breathtaking. What I loved is that we were able to walk everywhere! Each morning we could open our sliding door and see the ocean and hear the waves crashing, once the fog lifted. I could walk out of the hotel and go for a long run along the coast and then I would meet Shannon for coffee. There were always people out walking, running, or cycling. It just has a really good healthy vibe. YES, it is a little bubble all the way on the west coast that is like fantasy land, but it is just like our little bubble here in the Lowcountry.. If it wasn’t so damn expensive and far away, I could totally live there again.
Until next time…I am hoping that we will be able to be back out there this summer, when it is warmer and I can get a few surf sessions in, some more runs with friends, and just keep moving, exploring, and trying new things with my partner in crime!
