How I Overcome My Fears And Live My Best Life
AHHH…This is a BIG question and one that I am still learning about, but you have to start somewhere, because who the hell wants to live in FEAR their entire life? I kind of associate fear and worry together. To me these are two negative words that can control your life and it can take you down a deep dark hole. Been there…Sometimes I still go back there…But I am learning how to overcome it. I will be the first to admit that it takes a lot of work and time to achieve this, but don’t all good things take work. And when you want something that badly, you give it all. You keep trucking through it no matter what, because finding that balance of pure bliss is well PURE BLISS!
The #2020shitshow has brought so much fear and worry to millions of people and it has to STOP.
We cannot live like this. It is not healthy for our bodies, our minds, our lifestyles, our relationships…
ENOUGH IS ENOUGH…I believe that we have to move forward. Give “Negative Nancy” a kick in the ass and send fear and worry right out that big damn door. Life is too short to live like this. We can’t keep living like this. We have to pick ourselves up and move forward. I am not just talking about the #2020shitshow but life in general. Whether you are scared of trying a new career or workout…thinking of moving…resolving family issues…if it is bringing you pain and worry and fear let’s try changing our train of thought and TRY to live our best and healthiest lives, so we can be happy inside and out.
Please realize that I am not here to preach to you…I am not a psychologist, life coach, dietitian, (but if you need one, I can totally refer you to the right people), I am here speaking my truth and experiences that have helped me overcome fear and worry. These are steps that have helped me. Take it or leave it, but please note that these tips are ones that you can practice daily to help you in any way possible. And if you have any questions, you know how to reach me…With that being said, let’s dive in…
Where the hell do I come up with these topics anyway?
All these topics and photos that I post and share are always all somehow connected in my mind and heart. I love how these ideas come together when I am walking Lucy or running. Nature gives me a lot of creative energy. I find so much peace, beauty, and inspiration from just being outdoors. It feels SO GOOD. And then when I sit down to write and put together these lists, I realize also that a lot of it is repetition, but all of it is connected. The mind, the body, the movement, it is one big connection that we constantly need to care for so that we can keep living, breathing, loving, and living our best lives.
Here are FOUR things that have helped me overcome my fears and live my best life:
LEAN ON YOUR TRIBE
You have to surround yourself with people who inspire you and are filled with love, happiness, and positive energy. Shannon has been a rock star with me, when I go down my dark rabbit hole. He has patiently been by my side through these moments. Men are so black and white and as a female, I need this energy and perspective every once in a while to bring me back up. I love him for that. I love him for everything that he does and has done. He is selfless and giving and will do anything for me and it is a beautiful trait of his.
My friends have also been rock stars for me. At some point or another, all of us women have needed to lean hard on each other. That is what friends are for. We all have our shit. We all put it out on the table. There is no judging. There is just love, support, and positive energy to help each other out. Whether it is text messages, phone calls, walks, Happy Hours, we have all been there for each other. Lean on your tribe and let them lean on YOU!
This TRIBE is going to help you get through your shit. They are going to be your rocks! Lean on them…LOVE them…and push that fear and worry aside, because you are surrounded by beautiful humans.
DAILY MOVEMENT
Oh hey…A topic that always makes an appearance, but it the gosh darn TRUTH! Moving, sweating, building up your strength, leads up to building up your confidence, improving your mental health, and making you feel better about yourself inside and out. GOSH, I cannot tell you how much The Method Studios has helped me. I have not only become a badass rider. I have not only built up my strength. I have also developed some badass relationships. I consider the owner Meg, to be one fearless woman and she has been there for me on and off the bike. Just come ride with me or take her yoga-sculpt class and you’ll see what I am talking about. That kind of energy is contagious.
Just choose a movement that works for you and do it daily…and don’t quit. Somedays you are going to hate it and other days you are going to crave it. Moving daily is hard and it does take time, work, effort, and discipline, but you are worth it and you deserve to live your happiest life. I don’t care where you start, just START! Here’s a fun workout that I put together while I was visiting my Mom in NJ. It is a full-body workout and all you need is a set of dumbbells. I did intervals on the treadmill in between each circuit. If you have questions, please feel free to reach out to me. I always love hearing from you!
CONNECT WITH NATURE
Step away from the computer, the TV, the phone and get the heck OUTSIDE! I don’t care where you live, what time of year it is, stop making excuses people and just do it.
As I said earlier, my walks with Lucy are such a mood changer for me. Animals and nature are healers. It brings you back to the simpler things. Fresh air, sunshine, nature, our minds, and bodies need it. And when I disconnect, I notice all the beautiful wildlife too. Lately, there are so many beautiful butterflies surrounding us when we walk, and the turtles always popping up in the ponds. You have no idea how happy it makes me see turtles. I don’t know when this became a thing, but I’m okay with it.
Bundle up, put those shoes on, and just get out there!
PRACTICE SELF CARE
Self-Care means something different for everyone! It should be things that bring you joy and allow yourself to forget about the worry and fear. It makes you feel special, happy, and fully at ease. It should feel like you just let out a huge sigh of pure bliss. It doesn’t have to be fancy, or expensive, or elaborate. It can be as simple as enjoying a latte with a friend at a local coffee shop, or curling up in front of the fire with a good book, or just writing in your journal. Just do YOU and what makes YOU happy!
Have a safe and beautiful day! xoxo
