iLiv Massage Charleston
I am so excited to write this blog post, because the way I felt after this massage was PURE BLISS! The physical, mental, and ALL THE THINGS had me feeling like I was on cloud nine when I was driving home! YES, it was that good! And, that I am able to support a local business and new friend makes it all that much better, because this is what community is about., especially NOW.
I want to introduce y’all to iLivMassage...
Last Friday I treated myself to something special because, y’all know how I feel about SELF-CARE! After our trip to the Bahamas and indulging in all the jalapeno margaritas, rich foods, and months of some intense training, I was craving a MASSAGE. My body needed the detox (not detox to lose weight) and it was craving to feel renewed, restored, and rejuvenated!
For a good few weeks, Sarah Frick and Chandler Frisbie had been sharing some posts about this crazy-looking massage that they were doing! If you don’t know, these women are two of my favorite teachers at The Works. So when they share their experiences about anything that has to deal with healing the human body I always pay attention. Why? Well, they both push my body to the limits physically and mentally and I know they do the same when it comes to their training. Without getting too side-tracked on this topic, there is a reason why so many of us keep showing up in the room at The Works. All of us want the physical experience as well as the emotional experience. It is hard work. And that hard work can definitely take a toll on our bodies, so giving it some self-care, from someone who actually practices that room as well is really AWESOME.
YES...Jennifer, the owner of iLivMassage practices at The Works. Definitely another reason why I connected with her! It is truly a small world and I believe that we connect with people for a reason. As soon as I walked into her space, I felt like we already knew each other and I felt completely confident and safe for her to do her magic on my body!
Jennifer has been in the field of health and wellness for over 20 years. She graduated from the Florida School of Massage in 1997 and the Integral Yoga Institute in 2004. Jennifer has lived in Charleston, SC for the last 30 years. She is the mother of two beautiful daughters, Olivia and Lola. iLivMassage is named after Jennifer's oldest daughter Olivia.
What is the Magnesium Wrap with Detox Massage?
It is a detox and renewing treatment that can improve metabolism and digestion, increase energy and circulations, hydrate and tighten skin, and provide relief for sore muscles!
Dry Brushing:
Helps stimulate the lymphatic system, exfoliates the skin, and increases circulation.
How I Felt:
This was 100% new to me! I shouldn’t have shaved my legs, but I also couldn’t go in there with hairy legs…LOL! It was a tingly burning sensation that lasted until I get into the sauna. Lots of dead skin was taken off that’s for sure. I wasn’t worried about the sensations that I was feeling, because Jennifer walked and talked me through the whole process as to what was happening and what I should be feeling.
Magnesium Oil Application:
Smoother skin helps relieve sore muscles from exercise, and improves sleep!
How I Felt:
I was still tingling when she applied the oil, which was to be expected, as she said, that the tingling sensation would not go away until I started sweating in the sauna. But I am ALL about anything to make my skin feel better…to relieve soreness…and ANYTHING to help me sleep!
Wrap Me Up:
Assist with reducing inflammation;
Bloating,
Water retention, while in the sauna.
How I Felt:
AWESOME! I thought this was so cool! I felt like I was Catwoman from Batman. It was honestly comfortable and felt good, almost like I was getting into a pair of SPANX. But seriously, I loved learning about each step of this session and what the benefits were, and trying something new that was good for my mind and body, I was just happy.
Stick Me In The Sauna:
Better sleep
Relaxation
Detoxification from sweating
Weight loss
Relief from sore muscles
Relief from joint pain such as arthritis
Clear and tighter skin
Improved circulation
How I Felt:
LOVED IT! Y’all know how I feel about the heat and sweating so this was my happy place! I had already sweated a lot before the massage, because I took Sarah’s “Mash-Up” class, so it took a good five minutes before the sweat started to ooze out of my body. Once it did, it just came all out! The sauna was small and big enough for two people and I was in there for about 20 minutes. There was some music playing and the time flew by. I was chilling and soaking it ALL up!
Benefits of Detox Massage:
The blend of lymphatic, modeling, Hungarian, and deep tissue massage techniques maximize the effects of lymphatic drainage massage that may help give a boost to the immune system, reduce swelling in the body, increase circulation, decrease the appearance of cellulite, improve digestion and bloating in the abdomen from the abdominal massage, and leave the body feeling lighter and more relaxed.
How I Felt:
This was a different style for me, but one that I love more, because I honestly don’t understand a fluffy spa-style massage. I like a hard massage. I want to get the knots out...the toxins...and I want to embrace all these amazing benefits, which I did. It was also the first time that I got my belly massaged and it was definitely intense and a different feeling. Thankful that I work on my breathing skills, so I just closed my eyes, and took deep long powerful breaths.
I didn’t want it to end, but whoever really wants a good massage to end?!?!
I LOVED EVERY SINGLE SECOND OF THIS!!!
Cost:
90 minutes - $225.00
3-week series - $595.00
