THE COSTCO QUEEN IS BACK

It has been FOREVER since I have written a post about Costco...I used to write about it all the time when I lived in Houston. They were very popular and I loved writing them, because food and shopping are always a good thing. They used to be titled “What The Single Woman Buys At Costco”, but things have changed and I now have a fabulous person to join in the Costco craze with me. Shannon wasn’t a believer at first, but now he gets it, whether he wants to admit it or not. I mean if you don’t know, his favorite food is LETTUCE and they have plenty of LETTUCE!

I love shopping here and I have always loved it. When I lived in New Jersey, my Mom and I would go on the weekends and it was a great way to catch up and spend some time together. It is like a fun random social outing, but that is how I personally feel about food shopping. I still swear that they have the best toilet paper and paper towels. And NO, I am not that person who samples every free appetizer. I actually do not think I have ever sampled something. If they were doing wine tastings, well then that is a totally different situation. I could keep rambling, but over the years their selection keeps getting better and better and I will continue to keep you up to date, because I am here to inspire, help you, and give you my honest opinions!

Here’s the deal...Shopping at Costco is kind of like shopping at Whole Foods. You just have to know how to do it and you can save money, make a TON of great meals, and get really good products at great prices. And that is why I am here to help...I am going to give you my tips as to how to shop at Costco the right way without blowing your budget or wasting food.

My goal moving forward is to share with you what we buy...photos of some of the meals we create...and why we buy what we buy. We are very lucky, because they opened up a Costco literally 2 miles away from our home, so we take full advantage of the store. Our Costco has a gas station and a liquor store, so we literally have everything that we need. Shannon even buys sinks and faucets there now too, when they are on sale. The store has it ALL!

This was our recent haul a week or so ago. A little bit of this and a little bit of that...

What We Bought For $145.27:

  • A BIG ASS bag of gold potatoes - These are all for Shannon, but I plan on using these for a stew and maybe some other slow-cooker recipes. There are a freaking lot of them.

  • A BIG ASS bag of navel oranges - Craving all the citrus right now!

  • Smoked Salmon - Shannon picked this up and he eats it with saltine crackers. I want to make an avocado, salmon, and red onion bagel sandwich with it. Doesn’t that sound AMAZING?!?!?

  • Kirkland Wild Cod - I am not a fan of white fish, so this is all Shannon.

  • Bacon - Obviously...I don’t crave it that much, because it is a little too salty for me, but when I do, it is always nice to have in the freezer for brunch, BLT’s, or just because you want bacon.

  • Reynolds Wrap - I go through a lot of tin foil….LOL!

  • Kirkland unsalted mix nuts - LOVE these! They are just great to have when you want a snack or to top your smoothie or yogurt bowl with. The variety of nuts is delicious.

  • Cauliflower - Always have a bag of this in the fridge...It goes with any dinner!

  • Broccoli - SAME!

  • Kirkland frozen strawberries - cheaper than the fresh ones and last a hell of a lot longer! I use them in smoothies and yogurt bowls and it is great to have when I need them and not worry about them going bad so quickly.

  • Avocados - I was craving them and haven’t had them in a while! Currently loving them smeared on a roasted Japanese sweet potato...so GOOD!

  • Whole Grain Bread - 2 fresh loaves of crunchy, amazing, and delicious bread!!! I LOVE THIS STUFF! I slice it into 4 pieces and freeze them.
