Life Lately - June Edition

Life Lately - May Edition

The first week of June…WILD! Summer is here and it has already been kind of a whirlwind and I honestly wish I could just slow it down…The days, weeks, and weekends just seem to fly by. I don’t have anything major planned this summer and I think it is a sign for me to personally slow down and soak up all that summer and Charleston has to offer. I don’t do well with not being busy, but I think the universe has other plans, so I am going to listen to those and focus on a few things instead of 100. My mind, body, and heart need that right now. It is time to lean into the summer slow…So grab your coffee, tea, or a glass of wine, and le't’s chat!

Currently Contemplating

I realized that I have slipped back into some old toxic habits, that no longer serve me, so I took this past weekend to use the tools from my tool box, sit with my shit, talk to my friends to hold myself accountable, journal daily, do the things that bring me joy, slow down, and just chill. It is true when they say healing isn’t linear and I for one know this and have been open about slipping back down my dark little hole. I’ve come a long way though…I notice when it is happening, I have all the tools, and it is up to me whether I want to level up or not. Sometimes it is easier said than done, but with work, love, confidence, and determination, I know I can do this.

I realize at 45, that I am my own worst enemy. I hold myself back and have for so many goddamn years. I dim my light. Being dull, negative, and hiding is exhausting and not who I am. I want to shine, inspire, be free, be brave, be unapologetically me.

Currently Reading

I just finished “Identity” by Nora Roberts last week and LOVED IT! I have been reading some “meh” books as of lately and it was nice to finally read one that I couldn’t put down. I loved the characters, the plot, the vibe. It was a balanced combo of love, thriller, and inspiration to never give up and the importance of family. I randomly just picked up “The Spare Room” by Andrea Bartz. I also have a few goodies on hold at the library and cannot wait to dive into those when they arrive.

Make sure you are following me on Instagram, as I post all of my book reviews in my IG stories under “Books 2024”. They aren’t in depth reviews, just quick little blurbs, that hopefully can you help decide whether to read or not.

Currently Eating

My taste buds have been a little all over the place, but that comes with the change in seasons, the type of workouts I am doing, and life in general. For example, I cannot eat enough savory oats topped with all the arugula…RANDOM MUCH? I have a slight addiction to Whole' Foods pre-made spicy guacamole. And because I’m running more, the banana cravings are back…WILD…So I am just listening to my body and feeding it what will keep it happy and strong.

These protein pancakes are so easy and if you haven’t treated yourself to the Baking Steel Mini-Griddle, I highly recommend you add this beauty to your kitchen gadgets. Look how amazing they are!

Arugula obsession on repeat…on savory oats, on sandwiches, in salads, it’s everywhere! LOL!

Make sure to check out ROYO BREAD CO. for delicious bagels, that are low carb, and packed with protein and fiber. You can use my code - KATIEU to get 10% off! I have been enjoying the Everything and Super Seed and have used them for both sweet and savory options and they are delicious alternative to “real” bagels. They freeze well…Toast well…and can handle ALL the toppings!

Currently Craving

All the simple things that are right at my fingertips…Sunshine, ocean swims, walks with the dogs, being more social with my girlfriends, weekend getaways, exploring Charleston, being FREE and riding the waves of summer with beauty, grace, and a really good attitude.

How are you feeling about June?

xoxo
