Q & A with Katie Uhran - Part II

HEY HEY!!! How's everyone's week been after the July 4th weekend?!?!? It has been kind of a weird week here., so I thought it would be a good time to share more about ME, to lighten things up, and help you get to know more about Katie Uhran. And if YOU have any questions that you want to ask, leave me a comment below and I promise that I will get to it!

We have had a TON of rain and it has just felt kind of heavy. I almost feel like I am in slow motion moving through the mud. The other day when I was taking the "Mash-Up" at The Works and Sarah made us do fast feet, I almost couldn't get my feet off the ground...Heavy body, heavy mind, heavy heart, but I just keep on trucking! Trucking, believing, praying, and hoping for good things…Let’s dive into this Q&A before I keep rambling on in my exhausted state of mind…LOL! In case you missed it, take a look at my Q & A Part I.

If you had to describe yourself with only one word, what word would you pick?

PASSIONATE…I LOVE hard, I WORK hard, I TRAIN hard…when I am passionate about something I go all out and I put everything into it, which ends up being usually more of my heart than anything else. I am a sensitive and emotional being and it is sometimes a blessing and a curse when you are so passionate about things.

Favorite Movie?

The Money Pit with Tom Hanks! I have seen this movie HUNDREDS of times and I still find it absolutely hilarious. I think there are a few reasons why this movie is a favorite of mine...It brings back a lot of happy childhood memories. When we were younger and the entire family was together, we were fortunate enough to spend our summers on Nantucket, thanks to my Dad working his butt off! We would walk into town to go to the video store to rent this movie, which we did A LOT. We did not have cable at this time, so we watched lots of movies. I vividly remember watching this movie, Kindergarten Cop, My Fair Lady, and A League of Their Own over and over and over again. It was simple. It was fun. It was amazing!

We would either be eating ice cream or popcorn and would watch it as a family on the wicker furniture and it would never get old. I miss those simple days. We were exhausted from spending hours playing on the beach, tanned, and salty, and all snuggled up together. My absolute favorite scene is when the bathtub falls through the ceiling and Tom Hanks starts laughing like a seal. I mean it kind of is how I feel today...One thing after another, until the point that all you can do is just laugh your ass off! Tears of laughter, stress, anger, and exhaustion...ALL THE THINGS! It makes me smile remembering those moments and watching that move...Can someone take me back for a night?

If you could go anywhere in the world, where would you go, no limits i.e. money, time?

Take me away to a specialty overwater bungalow with plunge pools in Bora Bora! This room at the Four Seasons should do! Since there are no limits and no budget, a private jet would be nice, and it looks like they have one, so that is taken care of. I think two weeks would be the perfect amount of time too! Also during those two weeks maybe I would decide to fully disconnect from all social and work. I would only allow myself to take pictures, no TV, lots of books, and journaling. I would love to practice lots of yoga, do any sort of water sports, walks and runs on the beach, facials, massages, and just lots of delicious foods and even better cocktails...I'm READY!

How many places have you lived?

Here is my path across the United States once I graduated from The College of William and Mary...It has been quite the journey, but one that I would never change. I am GRATEFUL that I was able to travel, to live, to learn, to connect with some amazing humans, and to experience all of it, because he has made me who I am today.

My moving around had to deal with a lot of things...I think there were points where I was dealing with GRIEF and the loss of my father. I was maybe trying to find answers, peace, or answers. My moving had to deal with some bad relationships, but ones that made me stronger. My moving had to deal with just wanting to see this beautiful country and everything that it has to offer. My moving had to deal with just trying new things, meeting new people, experiencing different careers, proving to myself that I am capable of BIG things.

  • Charleston, SC

It was always just ME and a dog, but now I am here in Charleston. I have a home. I have a boyfriend. I have an amazing group of friends. I have started to make some deep connections and the roots are HERE. It feels good, so who knows what is next!

Favorite burger in Charleston?

There obviously has to be at least one question about food...And burgers are one of my favorite things to eat and talk about! Who doesn't love a juicy burger and fries? Give me all the toppings and it is even better when it is so messy that you have to eat it with a fork and knife. Poe's Tavern is my go-to place in Charleston for the best burger. There are three on the menu that I love, but "The Sleeper" is unbelievable. Roasted Garlic Bleu Cheese and Buffalo Fried Shrimp on top of a half-pound burger, that is ground in-house and served on a freshly baked bun with lettuce, tomato, pickles, fried onions, and fries. And you better believe that I clean my plate every time I go there...The BEST! I also love the atmosphere here too...Dress it up a little bit or show up after coming off the beach sunburned, salty, sandy, and sweaty. Because the salty ocean air always makes you just a little bit more hungry. We try to grab a seat at the outside bar, because the people watching during the summer months is pretty epic.

And that is it my friends…Have a beautiful weekend! xoxo
