LET'S CHAT...SHALL WE

Hello Friends! How is everyone? How is Summer treating y’all? Life has been busy, but good, and feeling grateful for everything that we have been able to do already this summer. Work Hard…Play Hard! I have been hustling and working incredibly hard and it just isn’t slowing down. Up before 6:00 AM and working until after 7:00 PM. It’s been NUTS, but in all honesty, I feel that I thrive on the intensity of work. I love a little bit of the chaos. I love what I do and all of this hard work is paying off. But SHEESH, I feel worked to the bone and Shannon has been working like crazy too. On a total side note, another one of the many things that I love about our relationship is that I am with someone who is an entrepreneur, works hard, and just gets it. We just do our thing day in and day out. As some of you know, when you work for yourself it is non-stop and if you do not get it done, no one else will. With that being said…

Grab some coffee, tea, or a glass of wine and let us just chat today about life and such…

LET'S CHAT SHALL WE

LIFE: It has been busy. There have been some ups and downs, just like everything else, but it has been fun. We just got back from a quick trip to Aruba with friends. It was AMAZING and it felt good to soak up the sun…drink all the drinks…eat all the food…and spend time with new and old friends. YES…I had to work and I worked out, but that’s me and it is what works for me. I was able to disconnect and I did cut back on my workouts and I did sleep in, so it was a successful trip. We will definitely be going back and I cannot wait. We have some other trips planned for the summer, so it is going to be a busy one, but it’s how we roll and I am so grateful that we can live this life we live!

LET'S CHAT...SHALL WE

WORK: It has been crazy busy and this work never ends…No matter what day of the week, you can find me scrolling, liking, commenting, sending emails, placing orders, writing, creating, connecting, and basically doing it all from my desk in my home or on some tropical island or in the air or on the road. I cannot remember the last time that I did spend some sort of time doing work, but that is OKAY and for me it works. Of course, I have moments of burn out…or doubt…stress…major frustrations…but such is life and work. Especially in this kookie world of social media it is always changing and you just have to breathe, keep trucking, and learning. I love the direction that my clients are going. As far as my own brand, it’s been hard to put a lot of time into this, as I can only do so much. For example, I love posting about food, fitness, and little pieces of my personal life. But I cannot stand doing my own Instagram stories. I do not like doing them. I do not have the time to do them and honestly, they are not serving me in my life at this time.

I have to do what pays the bills, what pays for my lifestyle, and what speaks to me. Making my clients shine is what is inspiring me and that is exactly what I am going to do.

FOOD:

SUPER simple and SUPER easy…Nothing fancy is happening in my kitchen! Let’s be real here, I really don’t like to cook, but I am so grateful to have friends who LOVE to cook and when I am with them, they feed me well. Rib-Eyes and homemade caesar salads and good wine…YES and PLEASE!!! Does anyone else love rib-eyes as much as I do? When my body craves red meat, it is game on and that meat does not stand a chance. And all the juicy fat…it definitely does not go to waste. I need the fat and the iron. SO DANG GOOD!

LET'S CHAT SHALL WE

When it comes to my meals and Shannon’s, we both eat very differently. At the end of the day, Shannon typically eats early and I eat late. I typically will eat dinner between 7:30 and 8:00 PM, depending on work and if I am still responding to emails. There is nothing to brag about my meals, but if you even care or want to know, they look a lot like this. I am tired. It is hot as heck outside and I just want simple and easy. I have been eating a lot of chicken salad and tuna salad sandwiches, lots of crunchy chips taco salad kind of ensembles, salads, burgers, and even bacon and eggs. I want it ready FAST. It is what my body is craving and I am feeding it what it wants. But the craving for tortilla chips lately, has been through the roof. My favorite ones are these that I get from Costco!

WORKOUTS:

As of lately, I have been all over the place with my training. I am just doing what my body craves! The sweat factor though has been UNREAL! Sometimes I wonder where it comes from and how I can literally sweat that much on a daily basis. YES, the heat and humidity are a big factor, but if you could see what I look like after, you would understand. I LOVE it though and to me, it’s just my body getting all that crap out!

If you want to workout with me in Charleston make sure to join me at Method Ride as I have been spending A LOT of time at this studio. It also helps that it is less than 2 miles away from my home, so it is kind of a no brainer. I have been craving getting back on the mat again, so more yoga at The Works will be happening!

Since it is Summer and I know that a lot of people are traveling, including myself, I have got another sweaty workout for YOU! No equipment needed, just that beautiful body of yours, some music, and some water! it is ONLY 15 minutes, but it gets the job done. If you have more time to workout, take it up a notch and do more rounds…add some dumbbells…or even add some cardio in between each circuit.

GET IT DONE WORKOUT

What else can I share with you??? We have a few trips coming up that I am looking forward to. These quick getaway trips always help me get out of my routine and take some time to breathe, which as of lately, has not been happening much. It’s summer though and it is my favorite time of year and I am just happy, grateful, and ready to ENJOY it and make my business grow, thrive, and ROCK IT ALL!

So tell me…

What’s new with YOU!?!?!

HERE WE GO...

AHHHH...Friends! Do you know how many times in the past month I have opened up a blank Google document ready to write and share with y’all, but writer’s block and time just have not allowed me. It is hard to stare at this white page and to only write a few sentences and then just hit a wall. It is frustrating, because throughout the day all of these ideas come to my head and I am jazzed up and ready to ROCK and then I sit and then...NOTHING! And also work too...Managing 5 brands is a lot, but I want to make time for this space...badly, without forcing it, and keeping myself happy and YOU happy.

BUT...I think I have found a way to hold myself accountable. I want to be back in this space. I want to write...to share...to inspire...to have fun here again. In the beginning of the week, I posted on social media that I wanted to hear from YOU and what you want. There is going to be more personal “stuff”...workouts...and, of course, food tips and recipes. YES it is time to just DO IT and make the time to connect with you and to get back into the routine of writing.

This space is important to me. It is a place that allows me to just let it ALL OUT and I have missed that. I am going to ease into writing again and start with the things that come naturally to me…FITNESS.

HERE WE GO...

The personal “stuff”, well that takes a little bit more time and emotion. I KNOW that I still need to write about the Shannon and Katie story and I PROMISE that will be coming soon too. Here’s the deal with the personal stuff. For so long I was afraid to open up...To talk about my successes, my failures, my relationships, my personal SHIT. But things have changed in 2019, especially after my retreat to Tulum a few weeks ago. In a nutshell, I decided to do this retreat, because I had things that I needed to LET GO of personally. I needed to remove that toxicity from my life. I needed to stop worrying about things and just do ME. I worked hard on me. I surrendered to it. I leaned on the women who were with me. It was powerful. It was intense. It was exhausting. It was also freeing. So YEAH, I am stronger. I am ready to just do ME and not worry about what others think or say. It is not about the followers, the likes, it is about REAL connections. It is about surrounding yourself with people who LOVE, SUPPORT, LIFT YOU UP, and always have your back. But it’s just as important that I LOVE, SUPPORT, and LIFT MYSELF UP as well too.

HERE WE GO...

See...I told you the personal “stuff” is real and intense and then I start to go onto a major tangent. I actually have a blog post that I am working on called “SHOWING UP FOR YOURSELF” and trust me, it’s going to be a good one, but for now, let’s focus on some fitness. Creating workouts, motivating YOU, and talking about fitness, comes very naturally to me.

I workout like a NUT job, but as I always say, I am a better person when I sweat. I love to sweat. I love to push my body. I love the way the movement makes me feel. And HELL YEAH I like the way it makes my body looks. Training hard and eating well is not easy and takes a lot of work, but I 100% believe it is totally worth it. And remember...I do indulge...I do take some rest days...and I enjoy LIFE! With that being said...

Who wants more workouts?

Do you want more quick workouts like this?
I think I will start sharing more moves that I love on my IG stories. If you don’t follow me on Instagram, well you are just missing out on ALL the fun. Click HERE to join the party!

Before I keep chit chatting away…Here is the WORKOUT…Look it over…Let me know if you have any questions.

15 Minute "GET IT DONE" Workout

I love these kind of workouts. They are versatile...challenging...and can be done everywhere. Everyone has different schedules, body types, injuries, needs, and goals, so do what works for YOU. A few ways to spice up this workout if you have extra time:

  • Run for 15 minutes…Do the workout…Run for another 15 minutes;

  • Use dumbbells if you really want to increase your strength, core, and balance;

  • Grab your friends and make it a challenge to see who can do the most rounds in 15 minutes!

Where am I currently training? What do my workouts consist of?

  • The WORKS - I am here a lot. I try to go at least 3 - 4 times a week. My body is craving the heated room, the sweat, the killer workouts, and the community.

  • MethodRide - Spinning is great way I need to flush it out and to get in a good cardio session. I love to cycle, but the roads are not safe here in Charleston, so I am glad that I have a spin studio that is less than 2 miles from my condo.

  • Pivotal Fitness - When I need the StepMill and weights it is where I go to do the above workout or use the machines, when I get the urge to lift heavy things.

  • Sullivan’s Island - Whenever the sun is out and it is warm, you can find me and Lucy at the beach walking. If it isn’t nice, I still take her daily for a 30-minute afternoon walk around the neighborhood.

I am itching to get outside and RUN, but the weather has been grey, dreary, and cold. And I have become a full on pansy when it comes to the cold, so if I can’t run in shorts, I won’t be out there. Until that sun comes out and the days start to warm up, you will find me on my yoga mat, spinning, doing strength workouts like the one above, or walking Lucy.

So tell me…

What do your workouts currently look like?

What are the chances of you trying this “GET IT DONE” workout?

GET IT DONE WORKOUT - STRAWBERRY SALAD

Time is flying and it is already basically the middle of April. I am loving the longer evenings, the warmer weather, and being able to start running outside without layers. I am one of the few people who does not mind the humidity. Call me crazy, but I just feel healthier...My skin has that dewy glow...It feels good to sweat (okay fine, I’ll admit that the only time I really would rather not look like a hot mess, is when I am actually trying to put on other clothes, besides Lululemon)...And my body just craves big salads, fresh produce, and lighter refreshing meals (I’ve included a deliciously simple salad below by my good friend Valerie for you to try as well). But before we talk about food, let’s talk about a NEW workout!!!

I might be repeating myself, but I love to create workouts! It is fun to put them together and have friends try them out and give me their honest feedback. It is another way for me to get creative, have some fun (yes I consider putting workouts together FUN), and enjoy motivating others to try new things and challenge themselves. With that being said, here is another challenging “GET IT DONE WORKOUT”.

GET IT DONE WORKOUT

You have completed your workout, you feel AMAZING, you are ready to tackle anything that comes your way, and of course, you need to EAT, because those muscles need to be replenished with all the good stuff. Let's start talking food and food that is simple, refreshing, healthy, and delicious. Because if you know me, I am all about SIMPLE and easy meals and nowadays, everything gets thrown into a bowl and devoured.

A few weeks ago, I met up with another Charleston foodie, influencer, and chef. Like I said in last weeks post, as I go into my second year here in Charleston, I really want to connect with local businesses and influencers to support them and to ask them to support me. Valerie of Thyme and Joy is one of those people. She's a Jersey girl. She's passionate about food, her job, and creating recipes for her clients and blog. And each time we meet up, she brings me food to try. WINNING!!!

Make sure to check out her latest recipe, that is perfect for Spring and Summer. This salad is easy to make and can be eaten for lunch or dinner. Pair it with some grilled chicken, steak, or salmon for added protein and you will be good to go. Bring on that warmer weather and ALL the big ASS salads!

THIS IS 39

“When you look back at your past, look tenderly and gently at all you have been through. Look with the eyes of the soul. See that each experience was necessary to bring you home to your heart” - Melody Beattie

I cannot believe I am 39 years old today!?!?! How the heck did that happen? How am I one year away from 40? Where is time going? Can someone please press a pause button, because time is going by too fast!!! Seriously...Where did this year GO???

As I look back on this past year, I can HONESTLY say that I finally do feel at home, after many years of searching, traveling, and feeling like I was living that gypsy life. I am ready to stay put! I feel 100% in LOVE with my life, my relationships, and my work. The road to this place has not been easy and it is still not easy...it is called LIFE. I have hit a lot of speed bumps, but I have learned a lot. I have opened myself up more than I have ever before. I am living authentically. I am being honest and true to myself and to those who I love.

What is in store for this year?

I am not setting any goals...I am going to go into this year and continue to do what I am doing. I am going to hustle. I am not going to give up on making this brand HAPPEN. I will continue to push my body, listen to my body, and do the things that make my body look the way I want it to look. I will continue to nourish my body, but also make sure I enjoy wine, buttery scones, and lots of delicious burgers and fries. I am going to just be and do ME. Like I have said, again and again, you are going to see the good moments and the not so pretty ones because this is real. Hell yeah, I get scared about putting myself out there, talking about my relationships, my struggles, my accomplishments. But what I have learned through blogging and social media is that I have made some pretty amazing connections, friendships, and I have learned a lot.

This is 39

So before things get too mushy here...Today I am treating myself to all the things I love, doing the things I love, enjoying time with the people I love and celebrating making it through another year of life. Better with age...Just like a fine wine!

I wanted to give a gift to ALL of you as a thank you for your support, love, friendship, comments, and for following me on this journey. And YESit is a workout, because what else would you expect from me?!?!?! I absolutely LOVE this one, because just like the title says, it gets the job DONE. You should most definitely print this workout out and put it on your fridge...put it in your gym bag...leave it on the treadmill and tackle it whenever you feel the need to move your body.

I created this workout when I was stuck inside during a snowstorm. I, of course, was antsy from doing nothing and wanted to move and sweat. BOOM...the “Get It Done Workout” was created. It is quick, efficient, effective, and targets every muscle in your beautiful body. It works on strength, endurance, and gets your heart rate up to burn fat and calories. And the best part is it requires no equipment and can be done ANYWHERE. No excuses my fabulous friends.

15 Minute "GET IT DONE" Work Out

I am grateful for ALL of you and want you to join me as I tackle 39 and everything that this year is going to bring me. Now it is time to enjoy my birthday...To have some FUN...And keep on hustling!!!

xoxo

A Week In Review

HELLO Beautiful Friday! How are you doing friends? How was your week? No small talk needed, so let us jump right into today's post before I kick off the weekend and disconnect. After working a little too much last weekend, it is time to step away from the devices. Happy Friday friends! XO

My Weekly Reminder...I love this quote! Thanks Leslie for posting this on Tuesday! I have spent this week worrying too much about my social media numbers and it ends up being annoying and exhausting. There is so much more to life and happiness! So YES, I am looking forward to time away from my devices this weekend. To enjoy the tangible things in life that bring me joy!

Week Of Workouts...There has been lots of running involved over the past couple of weeks, which has me thinking about signing up for a race. It has been way too long and I am itching for something to help me stay motivated with a goal in site. I am even thinking about triathlons again too...HA! I am not sure what has gotten into me, but I am kind of excited about it!

The weather on the east coast has been cold and snowy, so any sort of running outside is not safe. I do not mind the treadmill as long as I have some good shows to watch. It is usually my time to either catch up on the news of watch the Food Network. And to beat the boredom on the step mill, I always bring my book.

  • Sunday - 45-minute run + Strength Training (Legs + Triceps)
  • Monday - 45-minute on the Step Mill + Strength Training (Chest + Shoulders + Core)
  • Tuesday - 6-mile treadmill run + 25-minute outdoor walk with Lucy (the sun was out WAHOO!)
  • Wednesday - 45-minute on the Step Mill + Strength Training (Back + Core)
  • Thursday - 90-minute walk with Lucy
  • Friday - TBD
  • Saturday - OFF

Favorite Eats Of The Week...I forgot how good and easy preparing spaghetti squash is and I finally roasted it on Sunday when I was stuck inside ALL day because of ice. It is a great substitute to pasta. I can do without pasta, but bread...heck no! Crispy Italian bread slathered in butter and dipped in sauce...DELICIOUS! I had that meal 2 nights in a row and it just hits the spot on cold winter nights and leaves me feeling satisfied without the bloat.

How did I prepare my spaghetti squash:

  • Cut in half + take out the seeds + drizzle in olive oil and salt;
  • Place flat side down on a baking shee;
  • Roast for 50-60 minutes at 400 degrees! Shred out the insides or eat straight out of the half!

Sweet Breakfast Bowl - Eggs + Fruit + Nut Butter

More BIG Beautiful Salads (except this time it's not in Tupperware)

Spaghetti Squash Bowls - Mom's Meat Sauce and Crispy Bread

Recent Reads...I LOVE to read and it is the best way for me to SLOW DOWN at the end of the day! I start working every morning between 6:45 AM - 7:15 AM, so I am pretty tired at night. Disconnecting earlier from all of my devices and reading instead of watching TV in bed, has definitely made a huge difference. Since I have made this change into my nightly ritual, I have been flying through books! These 2 are great reads to help you unwind at the end of busy day!

  • A Dog's Purpose - Funny, sad, heart-warming, and so TRUE, this book is for dog lovers!
  • Eligible - The modern day version of "Jane Austen" this book was so much fun to read!

I am ready for the weekend and hoping the sun will stay out and grace us with her presence! Enjoy friends and see you next week!

What is the best thing you ate this week?

What was the last good book you read?
