Come RUN With Me
Running is ME time! I grew up being a team athlete my entire life and I loved every second of it, but as an adult at 45 years old, I find so much peace in running alone. There is so much beauty being out there by yourself, with your thoughts and with nature. Running is HARD. You have good runs, you have bad runs, but each run teaches you something new about yourself and your body. It is another form of meditation and it is why I enjoy it so much, even on those really bad runs!
Running is the time when all of my creative ideas come to the surface! It is kind of wild, beautiful, and peaceful and one of the MANY reasons why I love to run! I am in a season of where my heart and body are craving it, so I am enjoying it, embracing it, and just going with it. I am not training for anything right now and that also feels really good. It is nice to run when I want and chose the miles I want to tackle and wake up and either do it or not. I am LOVING that freedom and LOVING honoring my body and what it wants. It’s taken years to get here, but I am here and I am proud of myself and soaking it all up. Plus, summer is here in Charleston and I love to run in this kind of weather! Call me crazy, but being soaked after a morning run is rewarding. It is a detox for the mind and body! With all of that being said…Come run with me in Charleston and beyond this Summer! PS - Did I say LOVE enough? Positive vibes only friends…let’s just spread that love all day long!
My goal for sharing my runs not only in Charleston, but when I travel is to inspire you to get outside, move your body, soak up the sunshine, sweat, feel, create, and just be! We spend so much time inside looking down at our phones, at the TV, or hunched over our desks looking at a computer. Get UP and Get OUT! If you can’t run, then walk, but both are so good for our bodies, our posture, our endurance, and most importantly our overall well being. I not only want to share my runs, but also my walks with the dogs, because sometimes we all need a little inspiration to just try something new. Y’all know how much I love walking the pups as it makes them happy, me happy, but it also helps they sleep for hours after, and that makes me doubly happy!
We all need movement. We are not meant to be sedentary. We are not meant to sit indoors. Stop complaining about the weather and be grateful that you can be outside, move your body, and get some Vitamin D. And during these summer months, if it is REALLY hot where you live, prepare…wear a hat and sunglasses, put on sunscreen, bring water. No excuses…we are meant to move and move we will!
I know it is hard. I know we are busy. I know it takes time, work, and patience. There is no magic pill and I don’t promote magic pills. I promote the real shit. You have to start somewhere and starting is better than sitting, getting sick, stuck indoors, eating crappy food, and taking pills. Life is NOT meant to be lived like that. I feel like this is my inner personal trainer/athlete voice coming out, because it infuriates me how sedentary we have become as a society. We have all the resources to move, be healthy, be free, yet we choose the latter. Not HERE…RANT OVER!
If you want to come run with me, follow me on Instagram, as I will be sharing short runs, long runs, walks, not only in Charleston but beyond. If I am training, I will share what that looks like as well. I run and walk all over, so if you come to visit me, hopefully you can try out some of my routes and enjoy them as much as I do.
Happy Running Beautiful Friends!
xoxo
